Hi All I been asked to sort a job for a customer, 13.5m trailer (GRP) I’m in to minds which way to do it, solid coloured vinyl but with lots of joints or digi printed.
Solid colour I think would look the best but there is a lot joints, and maybe cheaper, digi printed easier to fit / manufacture but I’m not sure our Mimaki would be able to print this good enough to get a good solid colour that matched each tile, whats your thoughts ??

    Thanks Gary

I’d do it in solid vinyl, an apply the white text as cut vinyl. Then there’s not an issue if something runs out of square as you apply.

I’d probably do the green first as it’s larger and mark the 940 height on the vinyl, then use the straight edge of the 1220 vinyl to align to that, that way it doesn’t matter if the green runs out a little, and the blue line will be square, stick the white text on measured to the blue line.

See if you can get the green in a 1520 wrap vinyl. the KMPF polymeric version is circa £8/m

Solid vinyls all the way. I wrap 40ft trailer on a regular basis and you will always get a banding effect when printing solid colours which won’t look great

Don’t forget to fit the lower color first and allow 10mm overlap so water can’t get behind the lower colour!!!

    as a fitter I say either or…
makes no massive difference to fitting it tbh.

digital printed is easier to produce and fit but solid is a better look colour wise.

one man fit on digital print.
two man fit on solid unless done in sections with overlaps
