Advice needed on the Roland SP300v please?
Posted by Stuart Davies on June 25, 2012 at 3:01 pmi have been using a roland gx24 for a couple of years now with great results
also doing sublimation for 4 or 5 years. we have decided to upgrade at last
in the next few weeks we will be taking delivery of a sp 300v from the guys at graffityp
anyone got any tips for us to be going on with, and what to expect from this machine.we had a demo at the recent printmax show
we went with it in our heads to buy the bn20 but thought the speed would be an issue
have we made the right choice.nigel pugh from graffityp has told us that the machine has been and still is under roland care

both excellent machines take your pick.
BN20 very high quality smaller area prints slower
300 good quality bigger area speed ok ish. -
enjoy the learning curve, budget to chuck away a fare few prints to start with but all will come good.
spotted a spelling mistake at 6ft in to a 8ft banner today (sod it)
don’t forget you need a laminator
-
laminator will have to wait
most of our work is for heat seal (garments)
not sure about the laminator side of the job please tell me more
is it for signs etc, would i need it for stickers, banners, canvas etc

you need another long chat with nigel, have you told him what you want to acheive with the machine.

back in the running again
going to look at a vp300 .been told its 4 years old and in great condition.
any tips what i should look out for and is this a good model

the thing i would say is as you are new to these type of machines is that you have a warranty with it or if not from a dealer buy one, so its covered at least while you learn how to look after it correctly.
-
We have VP’s great machines but they need to be maintained correctly. The problems you have with these are the separate heads for each of the colours unlike the SP. Make sure you have a print showing that all the heads are firing correctly and a 12 month warranty which you may have to budget for but will be worth its waight.

Hi Stuart i also have a VP300 and they are great machines they have a faster print speed than the SP and like Jason says they do have 4 heads instead of 2 to look after but overall i could not recommend the VP series enough Luke

well we have done the deal, and are soon to be the owners af a roland vp300
had to travel a long way to do the deal but it was well worth the journey.
a big thanks to nigel from graffityp for helping us in our search

Don’t praise him to much, it always goes to his head. :no1:

No problem Stuart, just glad after the first deal fell through I managed to find another one for you……….the only head ache is that I’m dealing with two Stuart’s and so talking to Stuart about Stuart did make my head spin.
I will be in touch regarding the install date in a few days.

well the vp300 turned up as promised, and what a task it was to get it into my workroom.we had to take it off the stand and get a neighbour to put the stand in the workroom ,then me and the technician managed to get it into place.
leigh griffiths was the guy who came to do the install, and what a fantastic and helpfull guy he is,nothing seemed to much trouble for him.he spent a good few hours here setting things up a giving us some training.i cant praise nigel pugh and leigh griffiths enough the service they and graffityp gave us was second to none
thanks guys you are a great bunch
