  • Advice needed on how to fix individual illuminated built up letters on a glass

    Hi Guys!

I’m looking for a solution or advice how to fix individual illuminated built up letters on a store glass internally. We’ve got a corporate chain store customer. We did 3d letters for them many times, they always put them on an acm tray by themselves before hanging on a fascia in all their previous stores. But this time they want to fix the letters on a shopfront glass internally without the wires to show up.

Normally we can make any type of 3d built up letters, but we are not professional in fitting and don’t usually do installation as we concentrate on supplying to trade only. However, this time they want us to do the all job including fitting as how they want. We can’t simply refuse this due to the size of customer and our long-term relationship with them.

Anyone experience here how to fix/stick the letters to the shopfront glass without showing the wirings behind? How can we hide the cables? Using a thin profile? The client doesn’t even want a profile though but saying they saw illuminated letters on glass with no wiring. Not sure if there is such wireless illumination on the market.

    Thanks in advance.

Could each letter be battery powered, with the batteries installed inside the letters? Other than that , I think Nikolai Tesla experimented with the transmission of electrical power without the use of cables. He invented the Tesla coil which may be worth investigating?

Nikola Tesla has to be the world smartest man, conveniently brushed under the carpet for others to profit.

HI Erdy, I can’t for the life of me understand how you could possibly illuminate the letters without cabling of some type. As of yet the only way to transmit electricity wirelessly apart from close contact phone/tooth chargers is lightning. At 30 million volts and 30,000amps this might be a bit much for your letters! The only thing that springs to mind is edge lit acrylic. This gives the appearance of individual lit letters but depending on where the letters are going hiding the light source might be a problem. You can also get a flat self adhesive wire which you could possibly hide in some way.

I believe this sort of job the glass is ordered with holes for the wires / fixings. I think Topman / H & M and the like have this sort of thing…. You have a normal built up letter with back try fitted to outside of glass then another back tray installed to the inside of the glass through the holes in the glass. Very expensive.

    Hope that makes sense??
