    hi guys/girls

im a window tinter of both flat glass and vehicles and do quite a bit of vehicle wrapping.

its come to a point now where im looking to add a very basic cutter for vehicle livery all single coloured some.maybe layered but no printing as yet anyway.

from what ive gathered so far a 610mm will be plenty wide enough.

as an extreme newbie with limited funds would the pcut series be any good ? the price is with my range for the 630 model.

is there any hidden things i should know.

    thanks in advance

    sy

You certainly get what you pay for with cutters.
If you’re in it for the long term get a popular brand like Roland/Graphtec/Summacut etc.

You’ll need to check which software will run a pcut and it might not be so easy to get up and running as a more common brand used by the trade.

I agree with Peter. Personally I would look on the ‘buy&sell’ section of this forum. Generally speaking you won’t get a lemon from here as the people on the forums don’t want to get a bad reputation from selling rubbish. You may pay a little more than you would on eBay for example but it’s worth it.

    Good luck

When I first set up on my own I did look at the Pcut – there is a reason their low priced, while they will do the job, there not a proffesional cutter (Do a quick Google search, you’ll see a few issues)
But they fill a gap in the market, and like I said the do a job.

I paided a little more and went for a Graphtec – and was very very pleased I did, great machine.

the reason we have a pcut forum on this website is really to act as a deterant to folk wanting to go this route. yes theres PCUT users helping each other and problem solving but the majority of them making a post is because they feel they have been stung and have come to a forum as a last resort.

i would say there are 2/10 pcut users happy with their purchase.

i would buy a more expensive "used" Roland, Graphtec or summa model before even looking at PCUT or similar.

If you are already in the tinting & vehicle wrapping business then it makes sense to spend a bit more & buy a machine that will serve you for years to come.
If you already have a customer base to work from I would expect the business to grow very quickly.
