  • Advice for Sagetech KK16 / Vertical Panel Saw.

Posted by Mike Rawlings on November 22, 2016 at 2:54 pm

    Hi folks,

We are looking at replacing our old Holz-her panel saw, and stumbled upon Sagetech. We’re looking at the KK16 as a possible option but the price seems a little cheap compared to other well known brands.
Primarily we cut 10×5’s and 8×4’s of foamex / acm / plywood and mdf into sizes all the way down to 100 x 100mm on our current panel saw.
Having contacted Sagetech, Im told they dont have any of the KK’s at their HQ as its just a sales office.
We’ve set up a meeting with someone of a KK12, but its an older model, in an attempt to get a hands on look.
Does anyone have any experience of this brand please?

Honest feedback more than welcome as I’d like to get our production team a piece of kit which lasts and is reliable.

    Hi Mike,
Can i ask which holz-her model you had, and would you recommend them? We are based in Spain, and i have been in discussions with Sagetech UK for one of their vertical saws KK21, but like you i want to play with one before committing.

We know holz-her are old technology saws, but we have been told they are very reliable and accurate, i have found one very close to us in Spain, second hand, a 1203 model, and would like to look at that first, as it is cheaper and the transport wont be such an issue.

    thanks

    Dan

    Hi Dan,

We’ve got an Holzher 1205. Been with us for ..err.. 20 years? With the exception of a power button fault, which a local electrician fixed for us, it has been faultless. We’ve made a few modifications to it within that time, mainly to stop consumable items wearing through. eg: We’ve added metal plates on top of the wooden supports which run along the bottom of the frame.

Having seen a KK12 (8 year old) this morning, we’ve decided its not for us as we do cut a reasonable amount of small panels on our existing panel saw and what we saw, wasnt able to reproduce them to the same level of ease / accuracy.
Yes I could use a table saw for this.. but when we’ve got a vertical panel saw which already does it, it wouldnt make sense to add another step into the process.

    Hi Mike,
what are you looking to cut? I am going to look at this system next week. its the basic 305 model, it will handle full size sheets 3050mm x 2050mm. We are looking to cut pvc foam, dibond, and perspex on this machine.
