Can anyone reccomend a fixing for the angle bar for a sign tray going onto metal cladding, will self-tappers be ok?

Tech Screws for sure. be aware that they come in various types of thread and tip.
if into cladding you want and open/wide thread, if you are going into steel you want a tight/closed thread.
wood has a wider thread again with a pointed tip.
when drilling into cladding… once you pierce the metal don’t drive the drill full speed. slow down till you see the rubber washer compress slightly and stop, and then move on. over tightening just threads the soft cladding metal.

    Hi
i know that people will say tech bolts are fine in cladding but you are fixing to a metal sheet of approx 0.7mm which gives little pull resistance. Which is very thin so i always use a mix of tech bolts and peel rivets which gives piece of mind especially with the latest signage fails making the news

In addition to roofing screws, I have found that for Hollow fixings the use of Toggler fixings are are also a useful option

Kev, mainly used these for larger m8 and m10 bolts for light boxes etc, very handy for hollow structures, but as you say the larger hole required can be pain in the ad lib fade
