Adhesives – Which ones do you use?
I use a plastics adhesive Called Tensol.
I use it to glue plastic locators on letters and panels.
I use it to join plastic foam board and acrylic.
This does the job very well but my issue with it is the time to takes to harden.
I have heard of adhesives you can use that dry very fast, as in 10 seconds and are super strong! But i am wary of trying a random glue in case it does not hold.My questions are.
1, What glue do you use on plastic and acrylics?
2, How fast does it dry?
3, Where do you buy it from?Thanks for any help you can give me!

We use one called Novaweld sign fix 7 or 8 cant remember which off top of my head – we get that from innova solutions. Dry’s faster than the tensol imo

I would also be interested in knowing who uses a fast set acrylic adhesive.
We use Tensol also, but in the past i would use a glue called Acrifix which was like water when applied via a syringe but set in about 10-30 seconds. The source i bought from back then no longer exists, so would be good to find an alternative.
to be honest the acrifix set a little too fast but the main issue was more how watery it was. if you squirted out too much and it ran onto the face of the acrylic it marks it dull, removing the gloss finish.Anyway, as Peter has asked, a alternative relatively quick dry/set plastics adhesive would be good if you have one?

Am I right in thinking that Acrifix was made by tha adhesives division of ICI? If so that part of ICI was sold to a German company called Henkel shortly before ICI was taken over by AkzoNobel. -

It possibly was mate, but I really do not know.
I can find their website and looks like they have a distributor in Ireland, which is an option but even then, i would rather find an adhesive that was not as runny, as this is like water. but beggars cant be choosers i guess. :smiles:

Weird it’s on their website and Evonik have them on the website as distributor I am sure we have bought it from there as well – might be worth another call, we often get given the wrong information by salespeople

A pet hate of mine, someone trying to sell you something they have zero knowledge on.
You ask them a simple question and watch them fumble and flick through a brochure looking for an answer.
Or like you say, you call asking for a product and told they do not do it because they either do not know they do it or cannot be bothered trying to locate it.Do not get me wrong, when large companies with huge portfolios of products cannot expect their staff to know them all…
but in this day, they should at least be armed with a simple keyword search facility, if not for feild reps, then surely for those sat in front of a computer with a headset on!!! :awkward:
