    A world’s first for UKSB

Uksignboards.com, Europe’s biggest and busiest sign site is proud to announce being the FIRST sign site in the world to introduce and lead the way in online “streaming video tutorials, Industry news and more”…

    Robert Lambie says:

“The past 18 months have been a long learning curve”
“UKSB has invested heavily in software, hardware, 2 dedicated servers and web development to offer the very best to its members, and I think we have done just that. I guess the next 6-8 weeks will be our teething period for what we are set to offer. Even so, I am quietly confident any issues that may arise will be minimal.

February 1st 2007 saw us launch the very first in the series of “The Sign Apprentice” video tutorials.
The idea behind “The Sign Apprentice” is that we go back to basics and work our way forward, Just like a sign apprentice would. You will also see me actually tutor junior members of my own staff on various sign aspects…

    [c][/c]

My goal here is that even if you are a very experienced sign maker and you don’t think you can learn something from these tutorials, then maybe sitting one of your own apprentices in front of your computer to watch and learn whilst you get on with some work, will be beneficial for your business.
Personally, I think regardless to your experience we can all learn something from each other. I know i do here on the boards on a daily basis.

The Sign Apprentice tutorials will cover anything and everything sign related, so much so we are open to tutorial requests by our members.
Tutorials will come in stages… i.e. Part 1, 2, 3, etc. This allows us to keep adding to the tutorial as and when needed.
The reasons for this are because most videos will require ongoing stages. e.g. vehicle wrapping or even vinyl application, both these areas of our trade simply could not be covered in a 20 minute video, so will be introduced in about 10-15, 20 minute parts/stages.

    [c][/c]

“The Sign Apprentice” tutorials are just part of what is to come on UKSB. Already we have seen video footage of new products on offer from suppliers… such as the Rolls Roller by Wm Smith, LED embedded fabrics from PHILIPS, Image Edge cutting system etc etc. These features will be ongoing. Till now our trade has been restricted to trade magazines with limited text with small product images. So what better way to find out about new trade products than turning on your computer, sitting back with a cuppa tea and watching a supplier put their new kit through its paces and showing you what it can do? All this in the comfort of your home or office!

    [c][/c]

It doesn’t stop there… people unable to attend trade shows have now been able to get a glimpse of what went on at events like SignUK at Birmingham’s Exhibition centre, The Letterheads Meet in Scotland, Neon specialists Chris Timmerson and Pete Bickerstaff on BBC television, Beej Curtis’s pod cast diary, even Grafityps own in-house music band, the list go’s on… Could this be the beginning of UKSB-TV? Who knows! One thing for sure, the possibilities are endless…”watch this space!”

    [c][/c]

Whether you are a sign maker with news or even a tutorial, a trade supplier with footage of a new product or a tour of your premises… what better way to share or promote than with Europe’s largest sign audience at uksignboards.com?

    Contact: Robert Lambie admin@uksignmboards.com

In the month of February 2007 uksignboards.com took over 210,000 unique visits and over 800,000 page views in that one month alone.
We would like to thank all our visitors and especially our active members for making us Europe’s biggest, busiest and also friendliest internet sign community available.

A worthy accolade for a fantastic site.

Size , quality and content go without saying, however this is definitely a friendly board where you can ask the stupidest questions with out getting shot down in flames (might get a slight flesh wound though !!!)

    Well done Rob 😛

Congratulations – really sounds terrific and I look forward to learning lots that I don’t know. In the last year i have really benefited from just browsing and getting answers to so many questions. Then when i have ventured to ask a stupid question the friendly, helpful approach has been just great.

    Well done

maybe as the site develops and new things are introduced we might see something like a small award for the first member to reach 1000 posts or something like that.

    hi Rob,

as a demo, i’d be interested to see one of how you flood coat a large pan sign, or other sign where you have to leave excess vinyl to go around the returns, i always seem to get bubbles form near the edges (due to the vinyil at the edges trying to overhang, it’s normally worse towards the end of the flood,

i had the mrs help out on my last effort, and even then the same thing occured ! used new squeegees and app tape too !
