• A moan about epson

We have a small Epson 1400 A3 printer, we use it mainly for printing of the artwork for making the screens for T shirts etc.

Just before we broke up for Easter, the 2 red lights started to flash and it wouldn`t print.

I rang Epson help desk who took the numbers from the rear of the machine and told me, due to its age ( 2 years) it`ll be kinder to put it in the skip and buy a new version.

But if I really wanted to, they could collect, repair and return it for nearly £190. Where as a new one with warranty would only be £250.

I said I`d think about it, and then rang a local repair shop,

£15 it cost to get it up and running again.

    Epson, shame on you!! (:)

    Hi,

this is true of all Epson desktop printers……….after a set number of prints or a set time the machine stops and needs a ‘service’…….this involves reseting the print counters and changing the ink sponges.

You can download a program to allow you to do this yourself…..my sublimation printer is an Epson R285 running a bulk ink system……..it works quite hard….in 4 years I have had to reset it 3 times!

Why throw away a perfectly good printer?

    All the best.

I once did throw away a perfectly good printer because of the "service" advice, then found out about the reset software, i had so much ink left so i bought the same printer and have reset about 3-4 times already.
We should get on to Watchdog about it 😀

    Hi Guys.

I do have the utilities programs, which resets the printers, but this didn`t work on this occasion. 🙁
