A Great idea or good use of a shutter box. What do you think?
I love original sign ideas in any shape or form.
When I Saw this book shops sign I thought it was a brilliant memorable sign idea, but the more I looked at it thinking, "how did they go about making this?" then I thought, "is this a just clever adaptation of a shutter box?"What do you think?

I once designed a really cool sign for a bookshop, essentially a load of different size trays stood up like books leaning on a shelf… their "we want to stand out, want all singing all dancing" budget turned out to be foamboard from another company. 6 months later I was putting up a new sign for a pound shop!
I’d love to be more adventurous like this more often but customer budgets just don’t allow 🙁

Just out of interest, how would you think you would go about fabricating the end of that pencil?

A rolled aluminium sheet.
or a thin PVC sheet. you wouldn’t need rollers to do that. but wouldn’t be as durable.
any sheet metal fabricators would roll something like this very easily.

I would just take the end, stick it in one of these and give it a few turns.

Looks like I might be right with regards to this being a Roller shutter box.
The picture showing the bashed casing makes it look like the pencil has been chewed, which is a bad habit. 😉 😆

Kevin, you could always buy something like a metal megaphone cone from amazon and just adapt that too!
