  • A bit of a rant about suppliers!

We are pretty loyal to our suppliers. using 2 for the various vinyl we have.

We Ask the price and start to order. We don’t ask the price everytime we ring and we aren’t daft to think there will never be an increase.

We hardly ever just order one thing there’s always several items. And to be honest the husband orders and agrees the price I just pay the bills.

The other day we ran out of conform app tape a and ordered just a roll.

I questioned the price of £102 a roll. Hubby said it should be around £65. Rang the supplier, we’ve not had that price for 2 years…. Mentioned price increases etc….. Nearly £40 wtf.

Our bad for taking the eye of the ball, thinking the said price would always remain the same, tbh this is why we went with this company as their prices stayed the same, never had a letter every month like paper co used to send out.

A quick search on the net and the same roll is £75 from almost everyone, even to the public.

Really feel like jumping ship and going with someone else, it isn’t like there’s limited choice. Nothing wrong with the products just feel like we’ve been stabbed.

Morel of the story always ask the price before placing the order

Had exactly the same experience with my suppliers. You get a little complacent with them as they become a trusted supplier & prices creep up until you notice a big difference when paying after a few months. I can understand how they entice you in with the best prices but I think they inevitably get a bit greedy & hope you don’t notice because you’re too busy. I now do a purchase order & get a total with every order, instantly becoming aware of any price shift before the order gets placed. Ball ache but seems to keep them keen.

Is it your fault? I believe a supplier should inform you if the original terms agreed have been changed, or are about to change. They dont want to inform you IMO as you may be more likely to look at other suppliers prices. and offerings.

I would lose all trust with that supplier if I were in your shoes. I dealt with a company 3 years ago who did the same thing (luckily only for 2-3 months before the increase was spotted) I will never deal with them again. They seemed offended that I was annoyed I wasnt informed of the increase..their stance was " we always have a price increase at that time of year"
I dont have a problem with companies increasing their prices, but let me know so I can decide whether I keep trading with you or not.

As I have said before…some of these companies couldn’t lie straight in bed.

I have quite a few repeat customers and I wouldn’t dream of implementing a price increase without informing them

    Correct.

We could go down the route of emailing over the order and requesting prices everytime we want something.
My husband working in the unit so just orders things on the go via his mobile when we come across stock running low. It’s a 10 second phone call agaist 15 minutes typing out an order.

The rep has rung us to request a meet to sort this out. We still feel alittle "robbed"
