4b with interface card
ok guys,
i need a little help,the project is getting a graphix 4b with an LMK module interface to work.
i have tried, a good few combinations already,
but i need to know some things to save my sanity.
Q what slots do the 2 cards go into
Q do i need to change any of the dip switch setting
Q what drivers are best if using flexisign pro
Q what display if any should be on the keyboard when the interface is installed
its an old machine i know, but its still got some life in it,
im setting it up for a friend, who will be using flexi on a pc

used to have an old 4B many moons ago moonbrat.. 😉
cant remember what was what to be honest.. it runs itself for text & effects with font cards installed about 8 i think at a time… for graphics we run them on an old applemac with digitising tablet.
thank god those days are gone… 😆 😆

We have an old Sprint but I think its probably the same set up.
Open the lid and you will see the font slots between the font slots and the keyboard, I believe you will see a “Program module” its this you replace with the LMK module. I never changed any settings. We did leave one font in slot “1”
You then steer the 4B from your sign software, which for us is easy as we use Gerber Omega 1.56.
The only keys you use on the keyboard are “online” “offline” and the aroows for moving the knife, the “stop” & “halt” to stop or pause jobs.
I sent you a mail, give me you tel. no and I can tell you exactly how we are set up, if it helps.
For us its a back up system and used for contour cutting Edge work as we use a Summa Sign Pro T plotter for all main work today.
Robert…I still have an old Apple 2 computer in my stores that I used to drive my digitiser with 5 1/2 floppies as well. Still use the digitiser but have it set up with the PC today! ( not often) just on jobs that are not easy to scan.

😆 😆 i had forgot about those old floppies.. damn things were huge..
have to say those old 4B & Sprints are real work horses.. cutters are not built like that these days… 😉we had about 17 fonts in total.. we bought them seperate, back then it cost the company £1000 for the module just to allow you to cut an outline on text.
i also remember spandex used o hire you a font for £15 a day! then you had to post it back… was anything from £80 to £500 for a font 😮 😮now you know why they always have the biggest stands at the shows. 😉

When you open the box the slot has the letters pgm next to it.
On your keyboard the 1st key on the left “Font select” becomes “On line” and “letterheight” becomes “off line”
I thought that the Gerber LMK module only worked with their software?
I know that Cadlink did a module so that it could be driven by 3rd part software.
We have Signlab E6 here too but have never tried the Sprint with that, as I said before we use our Summa for most work.
