I couldn’t tell you the last time i even asked about the angle of a blade. its just bog standard Graphtec vinyl cutting blades we use.

i remember about 17 years ago when we would cut T-shirt Flock in our old Gerber 4B vinyl cutter, we had to have a different angled blade then, but other than that, its not something i give much thought to. I am sure there will be good reason for the angles though. 🙂

I think a rule of thumb would be the thicker the material the greater the angle. I’m pretty certain that my old Roland literature recommended a 60º blade for reflective and sandblast material.
If you have the time of course you could ask the man at Edward Mathias (0151 728 7221), he’s always seemed very knowledgeable on the subject, the blades they sell are very good quality. You will be on the phone for a while though.

Yep correct Steve – I have two holders set up all the time .. one with a 45 deg for normal vinyl and one with 60 deg for reflective and laminated prints requiring die cutting

Hi Chris…. I found some info on flea bay some time ago but it seems the 60 deg (as per the info) does not cut small letters as good as the 45.. I just use a 45 deg for anything… even T shirt vinyl.. Still works and weeds well.

I tried the different blades when I first started, not knowing any difference.

but I never saw a difference in the cutting quality,

just use standard blades now for all material, just change the pressure to suit
