2008 Yamaha R1 Template
Posted by Warren Beard on June 26, 2008 at 9:53 pmHi Guys
I know we can’t give out templates but wanted to know if anybody had a "home made" template I could use, it does not have to be exact as I will be doing a full wrap with a random print so can allow for extra.
It is a race bike and won’t get a chance to see it until I have to fit the graphics and don’t want some large guy in leathers chasing me down the road for fiddling with his bike while he’s in the pub 😮 :lol1:
Any help will be appreciated.
Cheers
Warren

warren,
Most bikers are nice guys, so go into the pub and ask if you can take some measurements off his bike. 99.9% would be pleased to help.
Wear your running shoes in case you meet the 0.1% though. 😀
No, seriously, just ask. You might be pleasantly surprised at the result.

Hi Chris
I think it will be on the bike when I do the graphics as it has just been resprayed. I like that picture by the way.
I will try find one to measure but if anybody can help with a template or measurements of some sort it would be great.
cheers

have a big sheet of paper and a roll of tape and scissors.
cut the paper and tape in place remember you need a few extra inch to grab hold of when pulling.remove and lay it out flat you now have a good starting point, too many curves for a 2d drawing to allow for.

just an update on this for future reference, attached is a template for a R1 2007, you never know when it might come in handy for somebody else. You would still have to measure it up but at least you can use this for a design template etc.
It has vectors elements to it including the Yamaha logo and R1 logo.
hope it helps someone 🙄
cheers

Hi Ryan
Is it the same as the R1? I am working on a R1 at the moment and this was the best I could find.

it is a different body shape and side fairings but it may help in the future.
I only have it as a jpeg i’m afraid but it should be easy to convert.

Thanks Ryan, will have a look and keep on file in case.

For outline of other bikes try http://www.bikewalls.com and high res images at http://mototribu.com/wallpaper/wallpaper/wallpaper.html
Not vectors but some good images.
