Yesterday as if it took a crane for my wife to drag me out of my solvent fume office for a last visit before the construction of two new 5 star hotel starts. I though I should share the photos you all.

Lynn, it is not impossible it is just 8hrs away for an unimaginable holiday.
Marcella you’re impressed so you own me a beer.

Luckily the government has some strict rules in regards to the environment.
While 3 of the old hotels on the main islands have recently closed down, Many 5star hotels companies are moving in. Even from Maldives and Mauritius. 😀

What exactly is wrong with the 3 other hotels that have shut down??

Can they not be refurbished? Then a new structure would not need to be built, spoiling the countryside??

But then again I suppose it is more cost effective to build a new complex than renovate an old one 😕

Bit like not renovating the abandoned houses in my area, it is far cheaper to dig up a bit of ‘greenfield’ land to squash 40+ houses on a postage stamp.

We are all out to make money, but money stinks sometimes

Craig, The Plantation Club, according to media was asked to be renovated and upgrade its standard for years by the Seychelles Tourism, which they failed to do.

The Mahe Beach Resort is one of 3 hotels in the Seychelles being managed by Malaysian group, Berjaya Hotels & Resort also needs renovation and will Probably change owners. It was built in the 70s

Competition is tough in the Tourism industry in this part of the World. Those 3 hotels closing down are all on the main island, they face fierce competition
with many other Island Resorts where there is one hotel for one island. Pictures below are few examples and are not the most beautiful ones

Marcella, A lottery might be too much. It dosen’t cost that much for holiday over here.

it does to book it in the UK Andre. Around £3000 per person ………… that would be an expensive family holiday!

Believe it or not I don’t like to go to the ocean for a vacation.
I am terrified of it, it’s just too big.
Even though your water is gorgeous.
But…I love seafood. I bet there is some good eating there too.
And I bet it smells like ocean breeze!
    I like that part.
    Love….Jill

I can just stay in the AC in the new hotel and drink margaritas and eat seafood.
    😉
And gaze out at the ocean without having to swim in it or go boating on it.

    Thanks for the comments guys.
Dave, SignSeychelles 2011 UKSG party would be a great idea as long as we stay away from the Ocean to prevent Jill and Shane from getting seasick.
