    Good Luck Paul

We do a lot of work for Shelter Box – we’re just doing their new trailer. Very worthy cause.

We were down at Lands End on Saturday night for their first live band night. My band was supporting Status Clone – absolutely brilliant weather and atmosphere down there.

Just remember, you need to stop at the signpost!!!!

    Once again Good Luck

Do you have a vector of the world in the centre of the shelterbox logo

I have drawn the rest but I’m running out of time trying to fit everything in before I go.

I wanted to print their logo on the back of my cycling tops

Thanks to everyone for the great response and thank you Rob for allowing me to use the forum to raise funds.

I am just getting the last bits and pieces together (god knows how I’m going to get it all on the bike) and preparing myself for a 24hr coach trip to the north east of Scotland.

On Saturday I will start my ride south and on the fourt day of my nine day attempt I will still be in Scotland (Scotland is a very big place indeed) 😮

I hope to be back in Cornwall the following Sunday where I get to cycle for eight hours on the delightful A30 😮 😮

Jules may pop on to the forum from time to time with a progress report.

Or you can check out http://www.8wirehosting.co.uk/mackerelbus/

Thanks again for all your support and I will talk to you all when I get back

I suspect Paul is all set now for his mamouth bike cycle event and I wanted to bump this thread. Hi,

I’ve just spoken with Paul, he’s at Penrith in Cumbria.

He’s heading inland slightly trying avoid the really big hills and instead taking in the sights of Tebay and Kirkby Lonsdale. I’m about 12 miles from Kirkby Lonsdale, so hopefully I’ll be able to meet up with Paul later on today.

Even with a bit of a head wind slowing him down slightly he sounds really upbeat, happy and of course determined as ever.

Here’s hoping for fine weather and a tail wind!

    Hi Jules and all,

Just got back from meeting up with Paul. He’s looking really cheerful and certainly has a great deal of energy for the rest of the journey of which he is now over half way!

We met up in the square at Kirby Lonsdale and decided to go for a quick half (orange juice) in the pub round the corner and had a real good chat.

Until this adventure Paul has never cycled a hundred miles in a day, never mind nine days on the trot.

Today he’s been held back a bit by all the hills, head wind and a slight detour that he was told was an easier route than straight down the A6 but didn’t do that much to help. He hopes to get to Lancaster or just beyond, maybe Galgate or Garstang before he pitches his tent and has a read of this thread that I printed out for him.

He’s suffering from a few aches and pains but I think it’s the back of his leg that’s giving him the most grief, but from here on in the hills and terrain should make for easier cycling.

Paul is still aiming to to complete the journey on Sunday, taking a total of nine days and at this moment he is on target for that.

    I have posted a picture of Paul taken in Kirkby Lonsdale, you can view it here;

    https://www.uksignboards.com/viewtopic.php?p=102551#102551

Note to Rob – Could you please add this picture to this thread?

    Good luck Paul :bike;

Oh and by the way Jules, I think Paul’s missing you!

    I think that’s about all.

Please do dig deep and help Paul raise a good amount for a very worthy charity. Don’t forget donations to charity are tax deductable 😉

Looks like Paul was about 15 miles away from me last night. Yes Tiverton is a fun place, Karaoke is all over North Devon as I used to run our own Karaoke show.. I guess he’s on the road and passed Okehampton and touching Cornwall which I understand is his home county.

Looks like he’s on schedule, for those who haven’t sponsored him, it is a worthy cause and Paul has certainly done something towards bringing some moneys to Shelterbox. For more details see his website, contact the UKsignboards admin or post a message here and someone will contact you in due course.

Full congratulations for the big effort you have done. Perhaps when you get a moment you will give us your thoughts on the whole journey, the money you have raised and would you do it again?

    Hello everyone

I’m back in the office this morning (yes I cycled in as normal) and I have a very long list of jobs to catch up on (back to reality).

I would just like to thank you all for keeping this thread going, it kept me going on the road getting drip fed your comments via my mobile.

I will e-mail Rob today with my contact details and he will pass them on to anyone who has pledged money for Shelterbox.

The fund raising has been going well and I can’t wait to find out what the total is.

The trip itself was fantastic, I have been to and seen some of the most amasing places and met some very kind people.

Some of the places I was really looking forward to turned out to be disapointing (loch ness) and other places I was dreading turned out to be great (Glasgow).

I will be writing a full trip report as soon as I can find the time and as soon as I do I will post it on here.

As for would I do it again, the answer would have to be yes but next time I would do it as part of a supported group and do much shorter days. ( I have already started putting together a plan for such a trip next year if anybody is interested)

Right, I need to get on with some work but I will speak to you all throughout the day.

    Cheers

Is there an update on where to send a donation? PayPal or Credit Card would be ideal for me.

    Hi All

I would like to thank you all for the fantastic response to my appeal for money for Shelterbox.

We were hoping to raise about £1000 which would buy two whole shelterboxes but we sailed past that figure to over £1500 so with your help we can now buy three (hot)

I will be visiting Shelterbox this week with a big cardboard cheque and I will get to see where all the money goes and hopfully help pack up our three boxes ready to be sent off.

Thank you all once again for all your help and support :appl:

nice 1 paul, i suspect the are in action with the latest crises… however, only 3… that is a little dissheartening if they are £500 each.
