    I’ve used the JSW tape with no problems so far, but I’ve never used 3m so can’t really compare. I think this sort of thing will come up more and more now, and not just with our industry.

    Not something I’ve come across as we source our media from reputable suppliers.

    Knifeless tape, I’d possibly be inclined to give it a go.

    Do 3M actually manufacture it? Or is it like all the supermarkets ‘own brand’ stuff, that comes out of the same factory with small variations in ingredients etc?

    That said isn’t the 3M stuff patented?

    I am the same David, I buy from the UK only. But the number of companies I speak with that buy-in from other countries to make a slim margin saving is crazy.
    My point in the post is obviously to flag this up, but will also get the thread Google indexed for others reference. When I posted regarding the counterfeit vinyls being sold, it was actually after a guy selling vinyls door to door from his van! He pulled up at my place selling loads of the stuff, said it was from a large sign supplier going bust or something like that. but had all sorts of brands and vinyls. now that was vinyl, how long before we see a van arrive at our door selling half-price knifeless tape? if it is fake crap, us lot get stung yet again! Rolling Eyes so it is better for these posts to exist to make us all question “so-called deals” like this and look a bit closer at the product being offered.

    @gordon-smithard

    Was it a white van man selling you it Gordon, or did you import?

      Saw it on you tube and got from Amazon, obviously from China. I just thought I would give it a go as I rarely get these sort of jobs in and Wrap cut doesn’t bend too well around corners and the 3m stuff looked expensive.

    @gordon-smithard

    You are right enough Gordon, but looking at these ones listed, mate.

    the fake stuff is actually more expensive by the metre than the genuine stuff, via Amazon.

      I seem to remember mine were about £12 for 45 metres.

    For £12, this may be worth a punt and see how it performs? Nerd

      That is exactly what I thought, only done 2 van panels so far but no problems at all.

    I have never used any of these but I may give it a try for £12!
    Is knifeless-tape the only one available though? I am sure I have seen others.

    I’ve only ever bought the genuine stuff, I did look at Amazon a while back when showing my wrap guy (he was old school and hadn’t used it), it’s often listed as 3M knifeless tape, what you get is 3metres of ‘a’ knifeless tape!! Need to be careful when ordering.

    Just bought 5 rolls of genuine 3M knifeless in a mix n match deal from Adapt (Amari) for £100 + vat with free shipping.. seemed a good deal to me.

    I could be wrong Hugh, but when I was looking at the Genuine 3M I thought I also saw them doing shorter rolls or maybe sample rolls. Not sure.

    I never knew this fake stuff existed until now. A gamble, but I think I will buy some and see how it goes.
