  • Advice on removal of 25 year old stickers?

Posted by David Stevenson on 21 July 2018 at 18:43

Hi, I’ve acquired a caravan on the cheap to give it a go before investing too much money on a newer van. The decals as you’d expect are pretty old, faded, and need replaced. Spent ages today with a heat gun trying to get them removed but they’ve left behind a terrible mess. Any thoughts on what I could use to remove the residue? Have tried our normal adhesive remover but might as well use water for all the use it is 🙁 Might end up having to make the new stickers slightly bigger to do a cover up job. Please see images below. Thanks

Maybe a toffee wheel attachment in your drill will work better than solvents, I recently bought an MBX vinyl tool, makes a mess but saved plenty of time

I agree with Kevin on this…
Toffee Wheel or MBX will have that off in minutes.
The only issue i see is that staining of where the old graphics were. you can see some yellow staining in the pictures. i doubt you will remove that, but i could be wrong.

Thanks guys. Must get my hands on one. Haven’t had to deal with this before but would be good to be armed for it in the future should the need arise 🙂

Phone around a few body shops to see if they have one you can try, it will cost you a few beers to see if it works, they wear down quite quickly so when you buy (I think you can get them on Amazon) you can get a better idea how many you’ll need
