my rule of thumb with this is just to inform your clients of the implications of each process i.e. sticking vinyl on a van WILL make the paintwork look different in 3 years time when they sell it or change graphics etc. keep them informed throughout the discussion, design process and keep it simple – THINGS WEAR OUT OVER TIME. you should have no come back if they are made aware, its only the very few @rsey , cheap as chips types that keep you coming back to touch up or make good. trust me i have learnt from experience…………….. if you set high standards for your self from the offset you should have nae bother.

to be honest i have found that the best ‘weeding’ device has been an old rusty compass that i have had since maths at school.

i have numerous ‘modern’ scalpels, stanley knifes and a VERY good knife called the ‘Knack’ (15 blades in a magazine – the bees knees) which help for general purposes but the compass is perfect for ‘lifting’ away vinyl without cutting into the finished vinyl, which i found to be a problem when using a blade.

first things first, before you even cut, if it is not inverted add a rectangle around the graphic to give it a border, then take out the middles (it helps with seeing whats before you) , then pull away the vinyl in the direction with the most verticals (i.e. from the left of a capital R).

    hope this helps

    cheers frank

i tried the internal test cut to no avial

will play around with the offset option in the meantime 😕

i tried smooth On & Off – the decal is text so detail is rounding off (especially with the cr@p blades)

i’m hoping a bit of trial and error with the offset option will work this out – i’ll let you know
