  • Yet another PC60 setup question.

Posted by Lorraine Clinch on 27 August 2009 at 16:10

After 3 years of the PC60 being a cumbersome ornament I have cleared the decks enough to allow me to get my teeth into learning to use the machine properly 🙄

Trouble is, I haven’t a floppy port on the new computer, and the comp. doesn’t seem to see the PC60.

I’ve downloaded the driver from Roland, thread & link found after searching the boards, but the driver doesn’t install.

I don’t know what I am doing wrong, obviously something really stupid, but it’s doing me nut in!

Has anyone had similar issues recently, and found the answer? Please?

    😀 😀

do you mean a printer port LPT1

you can use a usb to lpt or if the computer has a serial port com1 you can connect via that but more complicated and special lead required.

oh and i doubt if the driver is vista compatible

    Hi Lorraine

What is the OS you are running, and when you say it dose not load what do you mean, also what software are you wishing to use it with.

Like Chris has said do you mean it is not see in the printers section of windows under LPT1

    Paul 😀

Probably means that the PC60 driver was on a 3 1/2" floppy disk?

I could only run my machine under Windows 98. XP would not let me print anything.

    probably Brian.
a friend got his new desk top computer home then found it had no LPT1 port. trying to plug his old graphtec to it.

Sorry guys, wasn’t being very clear!
Yes Brian, I meant I don’t have an ‘a’ drive, for the floppy disc installation/drivers. I spent a couple of hours trying all sorts yesterday, and got precisely nowhere.

external floppy drives are very cheap, just buy one from aria, always useful to keep If I can find ours I’ll pop it in the post Lorraine.

Hi Jason, thanks for the offer. I didn’t know you could get external floppy drives-now ordered one from Amazon!

I’ll have another go at the PC60 next week, so thanks everyone in the meantime. :lol1:
