    Hello.
I’ve got a Xerox Document Centre Colorseries 50 and can’t get it to work from either xp or windows 7. For W7 the only driver is a universal global driver.
For xp the correct driver is installed. It printed a test sheet as most do then nothing. It works of ethernet and as far as i’m aware I’ve done everything i’m supposed to do but still nothing. Any ideas anyone?

    Karl.

P.s…….It’s only the printer I’ve got.

that is a fantastic bit of kit… also know as the Xerox DC12 but never knew what the difference was.

Without a EFI RIP (Known as a EX12) runs the DC12 but I am little lost with your version of it, i guess it is the office version that does run as a printer driver. I am afraid I don’t have any setup info whatsoever.

So, what an earth are you doing with that?

One thing I do remember, the DC12 without Service contract is a waste of money as the machine needs regular service, ours did break down at least twice a month but you also should be aware that this was possible of the best copiers ever made due to it’s high-gloss print.

It does have a maintenance contract. Problem is the only engineer that can sort it is on holiday. It has a rip installed on the back.

The driver is installed at mo on w7. There is no driver for 7 but was hoping this would work from the xp driver. If I install it on xp it knocks the summa out.
When it does work on xp it pumps a test sheet out then loses the printer.
I aint got a clue what the issue is mate.

probably not a solution. more a shot in the dark, do you have bonjour service installed?
if not; do a web search, and try it.
I had a problem with a network wireless printer and this sorted it.
but like I said, just a shot in the dark

Just a few things to check Karl (and sorry if you’ve already tried them!) as we’ve just got a big Konica Bizhub C500 pro in I’ve seen a few issues and managed to work around them.

If you know the IP address for the printer, try typing that into internet explorer/firefox and see if it connects to the Fiery. Is the IP for the printer the same as any other device on your network – I "think" you can change the IP for the printer through the fiery web interface.

Also if you can get a vista driver these tend to work OK with windows 7

Giving it a go now mate. Thanks for that.

That doesn’t work mate. I have the correct I.P address as the printer prints this off with loads of other info when it’s warmed up. The xerox site have taken the vista driver off the list for this machine. Bugger!

Are the subnet and default gateways set correctly on the printer/copier to your network settings too?

Have you tried rebooting the fiery? On our old Bizhub C350 it was temperamental and needed to be on/off a few times to click on.

One good thing to try would be to download commandworkstation from the EFI fiery site, its free, it’ll install itself then prompt you to look and connect to fiery units in your network, if they are set correctly it’ll find them automatically – might help to identify connectivity issues.

One more to try, and again apologies if it sounds a stupid suggestion! When we first got our C350 I couldnt get it to connect to the network.

When the engineer came out I had the network cable plugged in a "dummy" port which is blanked off if the machine had been fitted with a built in controller – once he plugged it in to the Fiery one it was perfect. Worth a check anyway as they can be very close together!
