    Hi,

I posted this in vehicle wrapping, then though it should maybe go in here, sorry for the double post. I’m wondering if I should even attempt this job. I’ve been asked to wrap a couple of sub woofer boxes (about 20" cubes) with gloss white. They’re cubes, with relatively sharp corners. I’m a bit unsure of how the finish would be. They’re made of MDF and have been painted with high build primer and smoothed off by the customer. Has anyone ever done anything like this successfully or would you steer clear? My worry is the finish won’t be what the guy wants, and that the prep will not be up to scratch.

    Cheers
    Baz

    Hi baz

If it was me I’d avoid it, like you say, the customer will probably be expecting a paint like finish, I’d send him to a painter, lots of car painters in our area also paint mdf for kitchens and exhibition stuff, the finish will be top notch then.

    Regards

    Alex

Cheers Alex, it’s pretty much what I thought but I needed a sanity check first.

there is a really thick range of vinyls that can be applied to surfaces like these. Even the edges can be sanded down. Might be worth a look. We used to cover mdf panels all the time in this stuff
