    Hi all,

Just a small concern with a vehicle wrap i have to do. I have a wrap with deep recessed areas on the panels. I know I have to apply flat and then heat the recessed area and use a rag to gently work the vinyl in the recess and thats all understandable. The questions i have is will the print work become distorted on deep reaccessed areas?? also is this the way you would handle the vinyl in very deep recesses. I have worked some vinyl as a test on the recess and i have managed it fine as shown in the pic. just concerned on deeper recesses. usually, on an inch or so, i would work it in as usual but i’m talking more on almost 2 inches and or plus recesses.

    Hi Phillip

Yes it will distort the print, more noticeable if its text!

Depending on the material and fitting the recess shouldn’t be a major problem. Just be aware if your stretching material up to 2" you risk splitting and colour loss.

    Good luck!

I’d be more inclined to lay the vinyl over the top. Cut it in the recess then push that bit of vinyl down. Sure you’ll see a white border but it won’t fail, won’t distort and if you cut it cleanly it will look as though its meant to be there.

Or use 3M IJ380 just make sure you don’t stretch it more then 50%. I think 50% stretch is that films tolerance. If you do stretch make sure you post heat properly.
