Hey guys, hope you all had a fantastic xmas and new year.

I’ve been thinking of vehicle wrapping for some time now although i’ve not enquired much about it yet but as it’s a new year, i thought why not.

I’ve got a few questions i’m sure any starter would need to know and help me decide whether to start this and go forward, so here goes?

What is the best course to go on?

What is the best material to use for basic colours?
(i’ve spoken to one company, they tell me that the vinyl needs to be laminated, is this correct, if so why not just laminate it in the first place?)

Are there any companies out there that will do the printing side if i supply them with the design leaving me with just the fitting?

Does the wrapping need to take place in doors or can you do it in a bay or even with a marquee over the top?

What tools etc are essential in starting this up?

    Thank you

Hi Dan, many courses available out there. I attended the Roland course with 5 others from the boards and our tutor was James Deacon. Great course for me and learned loads and James really knows his stuff.
Cannot comment on the others but there are threads on them

I I did a course with James as well, but with grafytip, again with others from the boards, he is now back with them. Highly recommended.

Most training is specific to particular make of vinyl,
William smith do a course for 3m and their trainer is Andrew, the guy you saw in Borehamwood at the open day. Also a top guy.

Not sure if Robert Horn do oracle courses, Europoint did before they were incorporated with RH.

Material wise you can use many different makes and grades. printed wraps are in two parts, vinyl and matching laminate, All the major players claim that theirs is the ultimate, but it does depend on the job, and how the material is applied.
    If

Colour change material that is made for the job does not require laminating, most have a built in laminate,
Some special tools are required, a laser thermometer is probably the main piece of kit that is probably not in a standard applicators toolbox.

Yes it is possible to outsource the printing, many from the boards will supply, but you would need to ask for recommendations, or perhaps ask for a quote in the correct forum.

On the course with James as we speak…. you probably wont find many people with as much knowledge and techniques for wrapping as he does…. my advice…. take the course first before you do anything he will tell you everything you need to know….. I have is number and email if you need it.
