• wrap removal

Hi Guys, we have just removed a wrap we put on four years ago, and i am quite taken aback at what has happened and what state the car is in.

The lacquer has been removed from both front and rear bumpers, so they were gloss and are now Matt and do not match the car.

The roof and the bonnet, cracks could be seen in the laminate (we assume due to the heat and sun here), those cracks have burnt through to the body work and are proving extremely hard to remove.

we used grafywrap and its laminate and left it about a week of off gassing before lamination, now quite concerned about the wraps we have done in the last four years when it comes to removing them and what state the cars will be in. Is this normal has anyone else found problems like this when removing wraps? this is the first one we have removed.

    thanks in advance

    Dan

If you’re planning to re-wrap or a respray then you could try ‘body stopper’ (not body filler) which may be the thing to fill/hide the shallow crack lines.

Really depends on the quality of the pant on the vehicle before it was wrapped. Most OEM paint is ok but we’ve seen a few vehicles where lacquer comes off when removing vinyl. Stripped a Ferrari recently and it pretty much needed a respray afterwards.

this was factory paint, and to be honest i think we are looking at a respray and re-lacquer! I am now worried about the others we have done and will be changing our paperwork to accept no responsibility for paint / lacquer damage.
How do you guys get round this issue? Is this pretty much par for the course or just happens on occasions?

    cheers
