  • Worlds Biggest Sign!!

Posted by Keith Nilsen on 19 November 2004 at 00:00

    Hello all!

I came across this as an item of interest, presumed to be the worlds biggest sign.

Located in Auckland New Zealand, the sign itself measures 145 metres long and 48 metres high with the upper case letters being 30 metres high, and covers a painted surface area of 4500 square metres!! To get a sense of scale, note the man standing beneath the letter E on the first picture, and the size of the vehicles in the second.

    A brilliant job!! Enjoy…

The margins are out; it aint even in the centre!

Rob, I doubt they printed that on an edge, probably something a bit bigger; like a PC60! 🙂

They probably used the World’s Biggest Pounce Pattern.
That man is rubbing the graphite powder off with his shoe.

No you have all got it wrong! The fitter laid and applied vinyl direct from the roll to the roof and hand cut the letters with a scalpel 😉

    Getting to late sleep time!

I’d love to see the geezer’s face down at Cherwell’s if I ever got a job like that: “27000 tins of 1 shot enamel please Jake, and a brush…no make that 2 brushes, in case I lose one”.

How many people have been thinking about how they’d tackle a job like that? I’d sub it out to me mate Bill; he’s pretty handy with a brush!

    £2.50 a letter and if they didn’t like it, I’d flog em…. 😮 🙄

Blimey though, imagine making that thing out of vinyl! But would Mr Lambie have done it dry? :lol1:

    Cheers, Dewi

It would be FUN to paint!
My pal Bill and I paint walls and such together as CBSJ Inc.
    (Chilly Billy Silly Jilly)
Just think of the nice tan you’d have on your back, neck and the backs of your calves.
It would probably take at least a 3 day weekend,
and you’d have to be careful about how much beer you drink,
so as not to fall off the roof or mispell something.
