Workpiece registration help
Hi – I’m after a bit of help…
I am looking into the possibility of getting a laser cutter/engraver tool (something like a Versalaser) to be used to manufacture ultrasonic transducers. The tool would be put to use for a few applications, from cutting stencils out of adhesive backed films to laser ablating unwanted material from silver loaded epoxy films.
The big question I have is are there any tools with an optical system for aligning / registering the workpiece to the laser to give accurate alignment such that the beam can be used to make features at exact positions (+/- 0.01mm). I suspect that the manufacturing tolerances of our substrates will not allow a piece to be positioned in a per-determined place such that the beam will cut in the same position as say it did to the one before. I feel that each piece needs to be aligned individually, hence the need for a camera system.
Thanks,
Duncan.
