All I can say is GRRR,

I work in a company that employs 3 sign-makers, 1 is mostly design, 1 is mostly fabrication, and the other is mostly sticking/odd jobs(me), we also share in each responsibility to an extent

Now this obviously relies on everyone doing their job as fast and as accurate as possible. however, lately just one of these people has been being increasingly lax about their priorities, and so anything that we do is totally diminished by the mistakes of the third. for example, I had to replace a third of a foamex panel that was damaged in the recent high winds, so I stuck the text on, measuring from the top down; the panel was too big, with the understanding that my workmate would cut down the panel from the bottom.

Went to fit it, and the text rises a little on the third panel, so after I’d done my job to the best of my ability (and it was scrutinised) it was near enough destroyed by this other person.

don’t get me wrong, working with three people can be magic, and when operating at full pelt, we can do a great work load etc, but other than that, it’s a pain in the neck. 👿

I know exactly what you mean

This is the type of thing you have to put up with when you work for other people.

Bite your tongue, learn as much as you can about all aspects of the job, save your spare cash and start up on your one.

It’s the best move I have ever made.

Don’t let the barstewards grind you down m8

If you want to be really annoyed – start on your own and employ these people.

Then not only do you have the aggravation but, every Friday, you have to pay them as well.

    Ramj,

John and Paul are right. I was a partner in a sign business that employed 14 sign people.

10 guys and girls were a truly dedicated bunch, and I was proud to call them staff, but 4 were lax, and often undid all the hard work of the others.

It happenms in any company, just make sure you’re not one of the lax ones, and you’ll sleep well, and one day you’ll have the opportunity to go on your own, and your work ethic will give you an immediate advantage over your opposition.

I have a reputation of being my worst critic. End of the day, all my work is by referal. I like to think it is as a result of my work ethic, and not handed to me on a platter. I work by myself now (with mum and dad who are semi retired) and I have only myself to worry about. It is a nice feeling not having to think for others too.

    Hang in there buddy.

    Cheers
    Shane

    Pete,
I’ve tried making them wear mini skirts (to increase business you understand) but their answer was “we will if you will.
