As you guys know from my posts I usually manufacture t-shirts, but wanted to try something else and put my cutter to good use, so i created these window graphics for the bar that I also work at, designed, cut and applied all by myself, the first time I have done anything like this, it was a learning curve and would like to know what you think.

Russ, I think you have done a great job especially if it is a first attempt, I really like the oval shape and the way you have not kept evrything neatly within the oval as a lot of people would have done.

As for constructive criticism and this is only my opinion, I am not sure that the oval shape at the end works that well with the rest of the graphics even though I like it and I also think the whole design might have looked a bit better if it had been a bit lower down, looks a bit lost up that high to me. Maybe another line of etch or text lower down would help but thats just my opinion and what really counts is what the customer thinks.

Like that Russ, constructive crit I do like the oval but I would have made it bigger or the same shape as the rest of the windows, not a crit as such just personnel opinion.

Well done Russ. If you work there as well your employers must be very pleased with you. I hope you got a good price for your signs. 😀

hey cheers for your comments folks, I don’t mind criticism either, it helps you understand your strengths and your weaknesses, the reason that the stripes sit a little high on the windows are that there are high tables that sit against the windows and it enables people still to look out unobstructed, any lower and i feared the ‘piggle’ effect where the customers try to peel them off.

I was never happy with the door, and I prob will redo it at some point, what you cant see in the picture is the recessed door that leads to an alley way at the side of the bar, so many people go up there trying to find the entrance, that’s why i didn’t carry on the stripe on the door.

One problem i had when applying this was the burnish marks on the etch from the squeegee they looked unsightly, but they seemed to disappear after the vinyl settled down, how would you combat this when doing a large portion of etch?

Russ I wouldn’t change the door to much, as I said I really like the oval just not sure that it fits in with the rest of the windows. Maybe you could try leaving the oval and just applying a couple of stripes either side at the same thickness as the ones on the other windows so the overall graphic stretches from one side of the window to the other like the other windows if you see what I mean?
That way I think it would fit in with the rest of the windows but still be a bit different so people could see it was the door.

As for applying etch, sometimes the marks can’t be avoided and like you say they will disappear fairly quickly but you could also try using a felt squeegee or a bit less pressure when you are applying it.
