  • Will vinyl stick to Galvanised Steel

    Hi all i have got a job on that requires vinyl sticking to some Galvanised Steel boxes, They are going to be white blocks of Vinyl with lettering on them.
    Will vinyl stick to them ok?

    GOOD QUALITY VINYL AND ID WARM THE STEEL BEFORE APPLICATION AND ROBERT IS YOUR MOTHERS BROTHER!!

    Yeh was thinking about warming it first with a heat gun, unless its a nice day but a very much doubt. Will be using Avery 600 or 700, not sure yet.

    you dont need to warm the the steel as long as it is clean it is the same as any other substate

    Hi. U need to get a galv prep chemical. You should be able to get
    this from a paint supplier. This chemical takes out the oil that is left in the galvanising process. Then u can just use the normal vinyl surface peperation chemical like isopropyl and just apply away. It really needs that chemical that takes the oil out if the sheet. They use this chemical before they paint galvanised sheet. I can’t remember the name.

    i clean with solvent thinners, wipe over with regular app spray type cleaner and apply, have yet to see a job fail.
