  • will steel self drillers attatch a banner to wall?

Posted by Deleted User on 1 June 2005 at 09:49

Hi everyone, wee bit of advice needed please. Im fitting a light duty banner wall mount system to a free standing 150mm square pole. The pole is made of steel, do you think steel self drillers will do the trick (tho they are really ugly) or can anyone think of a better method which is more visually pleasing?

    Thanx again

Large flat head rivets may look better.
People like commercial body shops or Brown brothers will stock them.

sounds same mate, have a head on them with metal washer with rubber ring below. you need a special adapter for your drill to hold them?

yeh we have the covers too dewi, got them in about 5 colours. last ages coz you have to buy about 500 at a time. to be honest i think they actually draw more attention to the fixing even though they are coloured coz they make them look bilkier?
if i have to use them but want to hide as much as possible ill spray the heads then fix.

We get screw covers from a company named Kompan. They make playground equipment. The covers are great for certain applications, not sure if it would be right for this though.

    hi david,
we use the tek-screw with covers too..

you could try a local steel works…
the guys near us use the coloured caps on the tek-screws for erecting cladding on sheds and warehouses etc. to hide the screws….

    good luck

Ok if you really want to do a good job,
use countersunk machine screws, and drill and tap the steelwork.
