  • will my pc60 run from windows vista?

Posted by Jon & Claire on 2 March 2007 at 10:21

Now all be it an old machine I still want to use my PC60 as it gets regular use still.

Following my old PC having a meltdown I bought a brand new PC, top spec and VISTA…. pre installed.

Dodgy stuff this vista having used XP for so long, probably the most stressful reinstall of my software going lol!

Now I have tried to install my drivers for the PC60 with no luck, can anyone who has had similar problems help me out?

    Cheers,

    Jon & Claire

ah.. we have to see if Roland (and other manufacturers) are actually going to write vista compatible drivers.

If you go on to the Microsoft website there is a download there that you run to check the compatibility of upgrading your PC to Vista, I know this does not help you but for anybody else I recommend doing it.

My result found some interesting information, it did not recognise my Summa cutter but said that there "could" be a problem but not "will" be a problem so 50/50 with that one. If you run Nortons antivirus it will only run with 2007 version, so if like me you are using 2005 version and is only due to expire in September I would have to fork out more money for Nortons if I was to upgrade.

I’ll be sticking with XP for a while yet. At least everything works. I don’t understand upgrading at this time to Vista. I have the most stable PC ever at the moment (touch wood 😉 ) so why rock the boat. If XP is doing all you need, why change.

Jon, I really think you are going to struggle with this one because if the PC60 is not supported it is very unlikely anyone is going to write a driver for it now.
If my PC had melted and I didn’t know much about them I would have gone out and bought a new one with Windows XP installed and if I had been offered Vista would have said no thank you. until vista has been out for a while and Microsoft have sorted out some of the problems you would be better keeping clear of it especially if you run a business and rely on your computer.

I will have a look around to see if there is anything available that may help, you might actually be better of adding another hard disk with XP installed and run with a dual operating system to ensure everything works OK.
