why is my laminating getting creases & bubbles please?
Hi all just a quick one…
we use a cold laminator to laminate the print media from our versacamm
my problem is that if i laminate more than 1 to 2 metres it starts to crease the laminate and we even get bubbles appearing in the laminate.
i have tried both slackening and tightening the top roller but it doesn’t seem to make any difference.
my worry is that tomorrow i have a piece of vinyl to laminate that is 5 metres long and i am worried it is gunna make a mess of it and have to do it all over again, which is not a great option
my question is;
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG???any help or advice is much appreciated

What laminater are you using? and are you useing matching laminate to media?

Just a few thoughts….
Is the top laminate roll square to the top roller?
Is the tension of the laminate equal as is gets pulled off the roller? If it isn’t this will cause creasing.
Has the backing liner of the print/vinyl become slightly wet or is it stored in cold conditions therefore attracting moisture, this would cause the print/vinyl to become ‘bobbley’ (can’t think of a better word!!!), and a hellish thing to laminate.
Is your top roller tensioned equally both sides?

Stephen, make sure the laminate is pulled tight width ways when feeding it in to the pinch point of the rollers.
Or, one roller could be out of true with the other.
You could also try applying application tape to blank vinyl to see if it rucks up. -
