  • why i do i keep getting an Error message of "Sensor Err

Posted by Jamie Hannahs on 17 June 2008 at 02:48

    I have a Roland Camm-1 cx-24.

I brought my machine to a car show and as soon as I powered it up I got a message of "Origin Error" and it would bounce off the right side of the machine. After restarting it a few times it came up with the message of "Sensor Error and when starting up the machine it will move an inch or so to the left and stop with that message.

I have cleaned the 3 sensors that I know of and don’t know what to do now. I live in Washington in the US and I have no idea where to take it or weather or not it needs to be serviced. I bought it used and have owned it for about a year and these are the first problems i have had.

    Please help……
    JAMIE 🙁

Hi Jamie, and welcome to the boards. 😀

I don’t know the CX24 specifically, but I have had a similar problem with another make of cutter. In my case it was caused by a micro switch at the end of the rails, which is there to cut the power and stop the head beating itself to death on the frame of the cutter if it can’t remember where the end of it’s travel should be.

The CX24 may be different, but my switch was operated by a tiny plastic pin, and this had got stuck in. A bit of flicking with a finger nail released it.

Are you using it out in the sun or in very bright light?

It was in the sun for a short while that day before I plugged it in. I had it under a tent but now is back in my home and doing the same thing. ??

I am going to try that in the morning and let you know if I have something similar to that. Thanks for the fast reply.

Jamie, this IS the morning. Well, this side of the Atlantic it is anyways. 😀

A post in the welcome forum might be a good idea. A lot of folks here are happier helping people who have let us know a bit about themselves.

    DC or state?

I live in Washington State. I have turned all the lights off to be dramatic about it and see if that helped and I am still getting the same error. I read on another site that the Origin error was from being in direct sunlight but I still get the "Sensor Error"

Jamie, I have experience with the CAMM 1 – I’ve gotten those errors when the little rollers are not squarely on the white stripes. The little rollers can’t be on any of the gray area in between the white stripes. Also, you have to make sure to hit the "origin set" button prior to cutting/plotting.
