why does Truck vinyl not have much adhesive?
Posted by David_Evans on 1 September 2007 at 14:29Hi,
I received a sample of the apa truck vinyl. I have just cut a sample for a client and have noticed that the adhesive doesnt have much tack to it, is this usual?
Thanks Dave

try sticking it too banner material if you have any lying around…
its probably not sticky to touch with your fingers but should have an extremely good bond with the curtain.
its a very thin stretchy material you should try a test application on a flexible surface before doing a live job as it can be tricky to apply. especially on a warm day. -
Thanks for that Rob, Tried it on banner and seems to stick perfect. Is it suitable for being washed with a preasure washer? and is there a version for digi printing available?

im not sure on the solvent digital printing but i do remember doing it on it with a pc60 thermal printer about 8 years ago. we laminated it with frog juice sprayed from a can.
it bonds very quickly… after a few days its stuck solid. so no problem with pressure washers etc but i wouldnt apply it using an application fluid.
it does take a bit of practice to get a feel for using it. -
Thanks again, Fortunately the design is only a metre by 800mm so hopefully shouldnt be too difficult. but i do have 12 sides to do so i sholud have the hang of it by number 11!! Is there any tips you can give for fitting or is it just
getting the feel for it?Dave

We printed on some APA truck vinyl with our Mimaki about eighteen months ago. It’s still on the curtain looking as good as new.

I know wet application is frowned upon…but truck vinyl might just be the exception, adding 25% meths to 75% water (ratio) makes the glue grab and go off quicker. Don’t know if anyone else uses this method but have always found it to work well. This also works on the Avery Fasflex curtain vinyl.

John,
Was that printed on the normal white truck vinyl and did you laminate?
