why does the gradient lines not look right when converted?
Ello……. Im not sure if this topic has been touched on before and if so sorry for going through it again. I have been given some artwork from a customer to print.
The print has a fading skyline which on screen ( corel 13 ) looks fine but when i converted to EPS for printing the Fading has gradient lines instead of the nice Fading. I also have the same problem when doing fills in my own artowrk.
Any surgestions ?

try up the steps in the fill or convert the fill to a bitmap or j’peg b4 printing i’ve had this problem before with corel

yep convert to bitmap gets around it.. dont worry too much about high dpi values..
basically design gradients is a bit of an art, a lot of people don’t know how to draw gradients so they step on print.

A useful tip – once you have converted to a bmp or jpg – if the steps are still visible add some "noise" to the file using a distortion filter such as available in corel photopaint or photoshop – this will eliminate the banding.

Yes convert to a bitmap and as Phill says add some noise – I use gaussian blur.

The method I use, is when making the gradient set the number of steps to 1000, this gives a nice smooth colour fade. When you export as an EPS make sure you keep the resolution high and you should have no problems printing.
