why can i not get my blade offset setting correct please?

Looks like now body on the board has the answer ?
Do you think it could be software related , because the problem seem to occur more often when cutting jobs than it does when doing a test cut from the machine or a offset correction procedure. I use flexisign 7.5 . how about you?

maybe the cutter is picking up settings in the Flexisign driver, when you go to cut and you have the cutplot box, under the advanced tab there is a cutter driver options button maybe a setting in there is affecting the cutter,

if the join of a cut loop is adrift by 2mm i cant see how the knife offset is at fault and i dout if softwear – it has to be mechanical or vinyl slipage – the most common fault for this problem has been the gear loose on the end of the roller as this does the hardest work moveing 1220 wide vinyl in and out – also with higher knife preasures watch if the vinyl distorts slightly in the centre over a wide width.

look at the poor join and try to see if it is a left and right problem or in and out.

to help find cut 4 circles each rotated 45 deg to move the start and finish point around – the first cut may be wrong cos the knife could be facing the wrong way to start with but the rest should be correct

i’m having the same problem here with my Mutoh Ultima SC1400 plotter. Circles just don’t close properly. I also tried new knives, pressure changes,…. But nothing helps.

Hi everyone
thanks for all the suggestions so far but still the problem remains.
Ive tried cutting the circle with different start points but the problem doesn’t occur here, it is much more prominent when cutting text (i cannot cut text smaller than 1″ that will weed ! )
Ive had the cover off and checked all the grub screws on the gears and there all tight.
Ive checked the driver in flexisign production manager and there is no provision for adjusting the offset (Know what you mean cos there is a setting for my other cutter, a Rolland.)
Ive completely uninstalled my cutting software and re-installed it,no difference.
the pinch rollers and drive roller are clean and in perfect condition.
The buggers got me stumped !!!!

Your blade holder may be damaged. I had a similar problem which was fixed by getting it changed. Not cheap, over £200 I think.

The problem is the tiny bearing inside it is damged preventing the blade from turning properly.

Have had any look sorting yous yet ?

Ive checked the bearing in the knife holder and it looks o.k But my eyes are shot from starring at monitors for years so i`am going to take it to someone with a microscope to see if he can detect any damage (not to sure if this is the problem)

Just got a pair of working eyes to look at the blade holder and guess what ? 4 tiny ball bearings (really tiny-pin head size ) floating around on the bottom where the blade seats
Also there is some play in the steel bush that is in the cone shaped plastic tip of the holder. both items will be changed a.s.a.p

Check yours lads very carefully, they are so small you can easily miss them even with good eyes.
