  • Whiteboards – dry erase issue, leaving a stain

Posted by Tim Knight on 24 August 2010 at 23:13

    HI Fellow UKsignboard members,

we seem to be required to manufacture alot of whiteboards.
with digital printed details, applied to colorbond with a dry erase film overtop. The customers are experiencing a lot of staining from the whiteboards pens. we have tried a unknown brand of overlaminate, a metaguard MG205, and Tedlar antigrafiti and they are all the same.

we get them to use a whioteboard cleaner once its really bad to clean back but if left on for to long ( day or 2 ) the pens marks are hard to get off.

    any ideas guys & girls

    thanks

    After I make regular whiteboards
(for factories, charts with cut vinyl on them)
I always apply a coat of aerosol furniture polish and buff with a soft dry cloth.

I’ve always used the el cheapo dollar store kind, but not sure if you have Pledge over there so that’s why I posted the link.
You might want to try it on an old example in case it messes with the dry erase vinyl.
I’ve never used it therefore know nothing about it.
But a regular waxing usually helps standard dry erase board from becoming too absorbent.
    Love…..Jill

    Hi Tim,

We’ve had this problem as well. We just tried different manufacturers of pens and found that some come off better than others.

    Cheers

    Hi Jill & steve

    thanks for the replies,
will give the Wax a go. Have found no matter what pen brand
the red, green and blue stain worse. Probably more visible really (the stain )
have got onto another supplier will keep you posted, they have the solution apparently finger crossed
