White SignBoard
Posted by MarkB on 9 January 2006 at 22:06Evening,
I have a 1540mm x 400mm signboard to make for a local company
It’s predominatley white and fixed above the main door to the cladding,
so what product is best and where can I get some.
Kind regards

Not really sure what you are asking Mark do you have to apply signage to it?

Mark: It sounds as if you have to start from scratch
i.e. you will be providing the board I take it?Which is the best board?
Thats a loaded question!
Best board for what?Try and find out from the client what type of ‘finished’ board he is after
He won’t know anything about ‘types’ of board but will probably indicate to you in conversation whether he wants a ‘nothing to involved’ sign or a more ‘prestigious’ has to look the biz’ look.Explain to him the different materials that can be used, such as Foamex or Dibond and explain why the cost difference is there
Does he want it framed?
Is it a traditional wooden painted sign he’s after?
Once you have determined your clients specs you can formulate your costings
Of course this is rudimentary but its a start

Hi,
Yup, It’s to be done from scratch, and non framed, I was thinking of Vinyl covered MDF or alike but Im not sure how this will weather?.
I’ve looked through the supplier list here and found no help on the foamex boards so I’m a tad stuck, as this is a supply only job and I need to supply before this Saturday.
Cheers

We would probably suggest reynobond / dibond or similar, its lightweight, good outside, already coloured white and you should be able to get it from most plastic/sheet material supplier ….. Amari plastics etc? They will even cut it down to the size you need, then all you have to do is add your graphics and fit.
😀

Thanks,
I’ll see how I get on, being in Kent I’ve yet to establish a supplier list, I may try locating a plastics supplier locally first.
thanks

10mm foamex, 3mm aluminium, 3mm dibond…..
Anything but MDF !!

MDF is off the list,
I was really just throwing a few ideas around as I’m a bit stuck (1st Job), but wood is off the list

I would avoid foamex/pvc boarding for exterior use and go for an aluminium composite panel like the reynobond/dibond.

definately dibond/reynobond, light, hard-wearing and a pleasure to apply graphics to.
