  • Which Wrap Materials do you favour

Hi All im sure this subject comes up very often but keeping in mind manufacturers improving materials etc all the time what would you consider to be the best wrap material for ease of application and cost effectiveness,? ive used metamark and grafityp in the past but never tried anything in the range with the easy apply air release system, any advice would be welcome and also if you would know of any promotional discounts or package deals with suppliers that are being run at present ? BTW the wrap is for an ice cream van 🙂

    Regards

Kev, sure you will get a few different answers which really leaves you back where you started. As with any vinyl everyone has their own favourites plus some people may only have worked with one or two films so won’t be able to give you such an accurate answer.

I would honestly say the best thing you can do is contact some of the suppliers and ask for samples or buy a metre yourself & do your own testing. Don’t forget the other stuff you will need to prep the surface as they all vary a little & some stipulate which brand products to use.

As for offers I had an email from William Smith recently about the 3m IJ180 or 360, sorry can’t remember which one or if the offer is still on but worth checking their website.

    Hi Martin
Thanks for your swift reply, naturally people will have there favorites like i say ive used a couple of makes on some aircraft work i did on there tails etc and a small car half wrap but just trying to get a feel for peoples favourites and the reasons why thy stick with them easy of use would be a great help to cut down the application time etc, i have done a wrap course a couple of yrs ago now and could do with a refresher course now i guess as i dont do enough of it to gain the experience and speed but hey we all start at the begging and im always willing to listen and take advice of people who have the experience and knowledge

    Regards

air release wrap films are very popular these days. but only two i know of actually warrant this "version" of their media for deep recessed areas often found on vans. those are Avery & 3M.
Both 3M & Avery have very strict fitting procedures and must be followed by the book. So please, if using it, do your homework or get trained on the specific media.

Oracal & Grafityp have very good all round wrapping films which i use now and again on part wraps, over sized logos etc. both these orginal films did not have air release adhesive systems, but to my knowledge, Oracal has just launched theirs in air release, as has Grafityp. (maybe a grafityp rep will confirm things for me on this?) however, i would think you should definately check what the Air Release versions of this media is warranted for.

Like Grafityp, Hexis appear to be very pro-active in promoting thir wide variety of decorative wrapping films and off the top of my head, i dont recall any real complaints. so appears promising there!

i could actiually go on and on… but i will leave it to others to give their views and more importantly "experiences" of their films.

its friday night and ive just sat down to my first glass of wine so ill pipe in later if i get the chance. 😉 :lol1:
