  • Which vinyl cutter to purchase, advice needed?

Posted by Adam Wade on 19 September 2011 at 14:52

Hi, I’m currently on the hunt for a new cutter for my business. Ideally I’d like to go with something that can accommodate for a 1220mm roll. As my budget is quite tight, I was wondering if someone could give me some advice on the best route to take. Manufacturer? Reconditioned or new?

    My budget is around £1500.

    Thanks

    quick reply…

    Roland, Graphtec, Summa…
Ive only ever run Roland, Graptec and Gerber vinyl cutters… but would say Graphtec have the edge, self preference of course but run two 54inch wide ones just now. work hard daily, never missed a beat since purchase.
Roland are equally as good a cutter, run them for many years and still do the printers. but found the newer cutters slightly less robust in caparison to graphtec and when push came to shove, i got a better deal from Graptec in the end.

Rob the three you mentioned unless 2nd hand would not fit the budget of £1,500 and also Adam does your budget include the vat?

Adam if you are looking to buy new at that width then take Summa n Roland out of the equation….don’t know about Graphtec prices but I would expect them to be close to the other two brands mentioned.

Second hand cutters, then any well known brands if looked after will serve you well for a good few years.

offt…. kick me up the backside in public why don’t you Nigel!!! :lol1: 😳

You are indeed correct mate. I think my prices in mind were based on the Graphtec CE 48" model with UKSG discount from some time back. :lol1: just had a look and still more than the £1500 ex vat, so haven’t a clue where my head is on this one when it comes down to price. I’ll just shut up on this one now… :lol1: 😉

we just sold a 54inch gerber fastrack for less than that. It has plenty of years left in it…. Awesome piece of kit for its age. They are few and far between but they are there if you look!

    All noted. Thanks guys.

Considering the options, whilst it’s going to be a waiting game, I think the second hand route could be the best way forward. . .
