Which trade supplier would you trust to build letters to go 90m up on a side of a building?
As per topic we have job in which is just bit to big to make in house – we decised to farm it out. We need supplier to make 2x sets of big stainless steel builtups and a logo which we will then hang on a side of a building approx 90m high – whou would you trust to A: make these B: Install

Out of interest how big are the letters Martin as nearly 300ft up :shocked:
Would have to throw Appelec in the mix, they have always made mine, not quite the size your after though

I aporiciate the sence of humor but we need someone who will put extra attention to detail in to this as we don’t want to ne going up there 2 weeks after install to change an LED module on>r scrape someone from under the letter which landed on the pavement…
Letters 1-4m ish…we only had a rough visual from client’s designers so far so yet to scale properly…we could do these in house out of xps but client insists on metal…

The same suppliers i listed still apply.as Martin recommends also, you can add Applelec to the list also.
You mention not wanting the letters coming down, i cant vouch for the companies on installation and i dont think they offer this service anyway, only fabrication… but i assume this will be installed by your guys, so if they come down? :yikes: :smiles:
I would agree with the client on using metal letters. if nothing else, for the life and durability of the signs.

I would use another method of fitting as opposed to the pastic cups. We’ve just had to repair a sign where a letters fell off due to the cups splitting.

Big thumbs up for Applelec – we’ve had some big stuff from them and always very high quality.
I’m sure if you speak to them they will be able to guide you on an enhanced / more durable construction for letters that are going in an extremely exposed location with difficult access etc. The Sloan LED’s they use are warranted for 5-years so that’s a big plus.
The job sounds like it will be a significantly large investment for your customer but depending on how much margin you are making and your view on the risk of needing to go back and fix anything it might be best to exclude the cost of any access equipment hire from any warranty calls.
I’d be tempted to also pay a structural engineer to formally specify the type and volume of fixings for the building substrate suitable for the weight/square area/construction of the letters.

Nae worries Rob [emoji6] we don’t do a lot of high level stuff like that but obviously safety is paramount, but as others have said, no one is going to see 14,000 extra screw fixings at that height lol [emoji23] [emoji23][emoji23]

Although 2Innovate do good quality I find them to be very expensive compared to others
