  • Which material to use for advertising board?

Posted by TimDouglas on 3 September 2007 at 11:48

Hi folks , I have been offered to put up a display / sign into a large garage displaying my services .They do general repairs to cars / vans/ lorries and prep for mot . so lots of passing traffic. Still not sure on content yet but wondering what material could I use. I made a temp ( for sale ) sign using the expanded cardboard ( 5mm ) but want something more professional looking. I have jigsaws etc to maybe change shape. Any ideas ? Also a material that I could use if someone requests a permanent sign for somewhere I know what to offer .order. I order all my supplies through cox plastics Belfast.

    Thanks again

For the design was just thinking off title / contact details / border etc ,Would you put up any full pictures off vans etc I have done or leave it all vinyl text ?

    Hi Tim

Foamex (not sure what Cox would call it) is a nice board that comes in different thicknesses and can be cut into shapes. It has a nice finish, comes in different colours and is reasonably priced.

I would say it’s your best bet.

As for design, if it’s simply advertising I would not cram too much in to it as most people won’t take the time to read it all and potential lookers will be lost. Keep it clear, attractive and to the point.

    hope that helps.

    Cheers

    Warren
