    Hi
I’m a new member and this is my first post and I’m after some advice

I’m looking into starting up with T-shirt printing. A friend of mine has screen printing equipment and I’ve helped him out a few times with some orders. Really enjoyed it but to be honest i don’t have the room for the equipment (my parents do have a spare room in their attic) Was also recommended a Roland Camm vinyl cutter and had a look at the Xpres website.Would be looking to do some basic prints and also some full colour prints

Really after some advice on which route to go. Artwork is not a problem as i have a close friend who’s after some work.

Which is the better quality print screen or vinyl?
    What equipment do you recommend?
Can you overlay vinyl to make a full colour print

Any advice id be most grateful as I’m really stuck right now

I have done some t-shirts with the vinyl flex and they have worked well. You can get very thin flex that can be overlaid so several colours are possible. You do really need a heat press as ironing them on is a pain and weeding out takes forever depending on complexity. I’ve tried both ways and the heat press is easier and luckily I can borrow the one at my wife’s school. We are experimenting with screen printing at my school using photo sensitive emulsion as we have a big industrial exposure unit. Screen printing is better if you want to print a lot of one design it also allows you to do complicated designs especially if you you can use photographic reproduction techniques.
As for quality they both have their merits, sitting on the fence I know but it really depends I think on what designs you’re gonna do.

Fot garment film to perform as it should you need correct heat and pressure!!

This stuff is not designed to be ironed on!!

Garment film will outlast screenprint if applied correctly..
