which courier service does most people use?
hi, i’m looking for a new courier, City Link, with whom i’ve had an account for 3 years, have just decided that all account holder must send £50 worth of business per week. now i do a bit of mail order, and can do quite alot in short bursts (car rallies etc), but for the most part the account isn’t used a great deal, maybe 5-15 parcels per month, they wanted me to sign a new contract, which would mean i have to send £50 per week, or my minimum weekly invoice would be £50+vat. £2600 per year, for nothing, it’s not like they even have to take time to collect, i’m only 5 mins from the depo, so always drop off.
what other service charges you for not using them ? stuff that, and i’ve told them as much in a letter, explaining that they can stick the account, and i’ll go somewhere else who isn’t out to screw small business.

i would send usually….
10kg parcel, next day, £9.99 incl vat.
up to 5kg city pack for £8.50 incl vat, (the plastic sack things).thanks.

Parcel 2 go?
if not first class post is very cheap for smallish stuff, and parcel force are also very competetive

preferably i want somewhere local i can take last minute stuff, parcel 2go is an online thing isn’t it ? usuall my courier stuff is urgent, parcel force are competitive, but i find the 4 day service (std) to be too slow, and the next day can be fairly expensive, certainly was the last time i enquired !! they also have silly rules regards length !

use the post office then. not bad prices and you can choose the level of service

i havent had this letter yet but i think it might have something to do with the last conversation i had with one of there bosses and i may not be considered as a customer anymore.
so now using a local independent £1.50 dearer but at least i dont walk round the office with a phone in my ear waiting for them to answer.

FASTWAY, brillant overhere, pre buy a book of 20 and get any parcel up to 25kg 2000mm x 1000mm x 1000mm next day delivery for £4.95. cheaper if you buy more.

we did have issues once with fastway couriers sending some large signs because i think the delivery must be manageable by one person or its rejected. -
We use Fastway too.
We’ve found them very helpful with large parcels. Their franchisees all use different sized vans but provided it will fit in the collection van they will usually ring their colleague at the delivery end and, if he has a van which will carry the parcel, then they will take it. Sometimes they will charge a bit more and sometimes not.

i do alot of european delivery i was using interlink DPD(same as citylink i think) prices not too bad but customer service is terrible. Started using interparcel.com got better prices from interlink than i do as a customer, i know its a volume thing but …

I use Fastway too But im moving to central London & they dont operate there.

well we use interlink and pay somewhere around £13!
only courier with a depot which is useful for last minute parcels -
We’ve recently been using a fair amount of vinyl from a well known supplier.
Admittedly their boxes could be a bit stronger, but they use TNT, and every second box is damaged. Damage to the product varies, but often we lose the first two or three metres of vinyl. One was a lot worse than that and had to be sent back.
Because of my experience with that, I would never use TNT for my own deliveries.
