which application tape dispenser should i buy?
Posted by Mark S on 8 August 2005 at 01:24Its come to the point where I’m going to buy a App Tape Dispenser.
I’m going to ask Hexi if they sell any?
610 – 710 WidthBut does anyone Recommend a Dispenser that’s Friendly?
Can it be Removed easily too?
(Not too much space to play around with so it may become a pain if I’m flood coating)..Thanks in advance Mark.
Your advice is appreciated.
Links welcome.

I made my own dispenser and it cost me nothing…
Get hold of 2 end protectors ( from vinyl Rolls) and 2 C clamps
Clamp the protectors to the table with app tape between……
Hey presto, a fully adjustable app tape dispenser that is portable
(I will post a pic if i get a chance)

I got mine from Victory design and it is one of the best purchases we have made.
I used to take two of us to tape up for a big joband we would end up with creases and bubbles the lot.
Now it takes one of us, half the time with smooth results.
I don’t think it matters too much where you get it from, just get one.
It will pay for itself in you first big job.
Cheers

Found the above links which show SignJoe’s dispenser … might give you an idea if you decide to make your own?? Also some other members might post up pics what their home-made dispensers look like? …… you all know how I like piccies 😉
We bought ours from Victory when we first started up and it works fine …. not a lot to say about it really ….. it works, its easily moveable …. when we have a big log on it we clamp it to the work bench. Cant remember how much it cost without looking … but it was over 3 years ago we bought it 😕

Nice one 😉
Love some of the examples…
Ive ordered one today…
At least i can send it back if its no good. Will keep you posted.
I’m a great believer in having the right tools for the job.
Then i cant blame any poor work on my tools (Not that i would do poor work).
They are a simple device at the end of the day.
I just hope it helps me to get the job finished quicker and better.Note :
I don’t know for sure, but the images with Poles running through the
middle might just work there way to the
end and fall out of there holding? That comes from days gone by when i used to work in a clothing
factory and we would run off cloth from a tube again.
But with out an alan key clamp on the end they would eventually fall out. Thanks again for the advice,
I’m sure many will benefit from the help and tips 🙂Mark

I’ve just checked out one of Signjoe’s links and it is exactly the same idea as my own, even down to storing vinyl rolls. How bizarre

Right or wrong i purchased my App Tape Dispenser.
Against making a DIY one.It’s Brilliant…
Well worth the £65Its one of those Why didn’t i get one earlier.
It makes applying tape a dream.
The biggest improvement has to be when I apply Clear App Tape.
This would have a tendency to crease now and then.
But now, Not a Bubble to be seen.I have a 4mtr Long MDF Table,
And just had to APP Tape a 6mtr Job.
Not a problem, sticking down 4mtrs and then pulling through the last 2 mtrs.
No Bubbles. My App Dispenser is Light and easy to lift off or lift on the table.
And has a handy leading edge witch sits on the edge of the table.
I don’t even have to clamp it down.I’m happy with it and glad i got it.
Might just purchase a “Stripper” now.
You can cut strips of Vinyl which can be handy 🙂Thanks for your suggestions above,
I would imagine that the DIY Versions work just as well also.Hope this helps ?

bought mine from Dorotape…£70
2 rollers in a frame, log sits on the 2 rollers and feeds UNDER the lead roller, therefore the roll cannot be pulled off the frame. i drilled the frame and dropped a 3″ nail through the hole, this then allows the frame to butt up to the table edge and uses that as an ‘anchor’.
Down side?……. max 610 width!!!!!
