Two 22s Rich. You get more area that way, and that’s what important.
For your laptop, look for a screen protector from the likes of http://www.clove.co.uk If you get a matt one it will stop a lot of the glare. I use them on my satnavs.

hi john
its not really the glare that bothers me its the colour i get, its an hp laptop hi spec love it but cant get the screen colour to match to well !!!
on my graphics card I have 2 out puts one is a standard type fitting the other is a dvi connection, would i need to replace the graphics card ??
thanks rich -
Rich, you can just connect the 2nd screen via the vga output.
I found the colours terrible on my laptop until I found that Signlab had colour management selected!

ok thanks mate ok next silly question
the monitor i have right now is a phipils flat screen 19" this is connected to the vga connection.
If I get 2 new monitors to match will they have both connections
i.e do they come with vga connection and dvi
thanks rich -
Hi Richard most monitors nowadays come with both ports but you can buy adapters to change them. i saw this last night Iiyama 24" Wide 2ms LCD TFT £266.99 inc vat from Dabs

Rich, I just got a new 22" monitor this week and it has both.
Read the spec for any monitor and it will tell you the inputs available.

my designer computers use apple 20" screens on Dell PCs.. recently we got hold of two 24" Dell screens.. they are cracking bits of kit.
Colours are very good mate, top notch.

Dave, any idea how accurate the colours are ie Pantone and cmyk colours in Corel or similar, do they display the same as when the job comes off the press.

i remember chatting to you Alan back along… well those top of the range CRT monitors I got are now on my own computer, they are pants so the designers love the Apple CRT’s I got them for colour accuracy. I also have some cheapo Samsung monitors and a few dell laptops, well the Apples are strong in colour accuracy and certainly can handle the pantone gamut well (not perfect but what is) and the dell laptop and the small samsungs look terrible. Although I am keep on the more expensive Samsung monitors.

The Dell 24" monitors were very good, not designed for colour accuracy but my colleague wont change it, he keeping the real estate.
Go to PC World, take a look then read reviews and order lol

Cheers Dave, I keep promising myself a new monitor but there always seems to be something else siphoning my money away.

ive had a 21.5 inch Viewsonic VP211b and ill be honest, i thought i was paying over the odds but since having it i wouldnt change it for the world. it has a slim border and allows you to slot in another 5 monitors around it creating a video wall. resolution and processing is excellent. this is something often over looked with monitors.
i also have the 24 inch mac one dave rowland has posted. i bought with my mac pro last year, but still prefer working on my viewsonic. both excellent monitors and i doubt you can go far wrong with either.
i keep saying ill do the second monitor type setup but i kinda thought it would resort in me having too many applications open at one time, (forgetting) maybe causing crashes etc i love the idea of it, but settled on one big one. 😀

I hooked up a second monitor not too long ago and can’t imagine how I survived without it. I’m really happy with the way it works but have been guilty of having far too much running in the background.
