No need to apologise for being in Cheshire Mate, it a nice part of the country.

Do a google foe Amari plastics, there is more than likely a depot near you.
if you dont have an account then expect to pay top dollar though.
just looked, they have a depot in Oldham, aint that far from you?

You can still set up an account with Amari but pay as you buy. THats what I do with them at the moment.

to be honest i think most companies offer pay as you purchase accounts.
i know europoint do it as i am often asked by UKSG members.
You can still open an account and gain discounts but on a Pay by card in advance. by that i mean they have all your details logged but it is not a credit account. you pay by card over the phone prior to delivery.
there is actually a special offer on 3, 5 and 10mm foamex machines at the moment. i think 8×4 ft of 5mm foamex is £12 a sheet. i recieved an bulk email from them on firday on this.

Is the £12 a sheet good quality stuff?

Paul what do you pay for a 8ftx4ft sheet of 5mm foamex inc delivery?
    Cheers

I try not to use Foamex. there is nothing wrong at all with the product but it has to be used correctly.
in my opinion, Foamex is an over used board within our indusry for shop fronts and the like. 9/10 times it is used/fixed in the incorrect fashion or wont suit the purpose it is needed.
I think it should be used for cheap temporary signage, interior signage or exhibition work and the like. If used correct, then yes it is a very good cost effective product.
However, as a signnmaker, I think with the likes of alternative substrates such as composite hoarding board on par price wise. I think this is the way to go for the sign industry on short term and budget signage. Even health and safety where the likes of HIPs plastic is used.

Anyway, £12 a sheet good quality stuff? As I said. Depends on how it will be used.
It is promoted as an ultra white finish and an excellent product for direct printing to board. Other than that I cannot comment.

    Matthew.

Give Europoint a try (they’re on the toolbar). I didn’t want a credit account and Rob sorted this out with Isabel at their Glasgow branch for me. No problems at all.

Thanks for your help on that btw Rob.

In quantities of how many thousands? 😀
No seriously! I suppose it depends on the quantity at that rate surely

    Rob,

should we really be giving away the discount prices in an open forum.
Its always a bit risky, especially when you tell people the suppliers as well? does it not devalue UKSG memership?

I agree peter, but It’s not a UKSG discount mate…
it was basically a random bulk email i got from them on friday i think…
from memory it maybe a monthly special offer or something… but please dont quote me on that. 😀

Yeah I got his email too! It is a time limited offer Feb only. I phoned with some basic questions to the Glasgow branch but wasn’t happy with customer service I had to phone back and ask again and give my details a second time and then still had to phone a 3rd time. – Id go with Robert Horne always been excellent (though I believe its the same company)

    Chris,

the email I got had around 4 branches listed Manchester and London I’m sure Bristol was there too. The stuff that was on offer was ability foamex in 3 5 and 10 mm?

Ill send you the email on Tuesday if you want – I’m away for a few days, though I’m sure if u ask for the special email offer on ability foamex they will know what you are talking about.

    Hi Nigel,

Its a Feb only offer from a UK manufacturer available to everyone , delivery is FOC subject to area, I would hate to think we were anything less than helpful in Glasgow feel free to contact me to discuss, it would be very unusual.

    Regards

    Hi Cameron,

    Thanks for that,

not that anyone was rude – but no-one phoned me back and i had to chase that’s all. I did get in touch with another branch who were very helpful though i am actually still waiting for a follow up call since Wednesday? its not a problem I will phone again but thanks for asking.
