where is the cheapest place for Summa D60?
Posted by Deleted User on 12 July 2004 at 15:27Hi, anyone know where the cheapest place for summa plotters is? Looking for brand new Summa D60 best price so far £1350 +VAT.
Any advice appreciated, CheersRobert Lambie replied 21 years ago 8 Members · 8 Replies -

That’s about as cheap as I’ve seen it. The only thing worth mentioning is that it’s a good idea to consider after sales service. 50 quid saved could be worthless if you have any problems but can’t get any joy from the supplier later on. I think Mathias do the D60 for 1400 but give you about 10 blades, which is useful.

I believe from what ive looked at Summa do a 3 yr on site warranty, i presume this is provided by Summa themselves??? or is it done by the company you buy it from?

I got my D60 from Selectstore.com in Germany for £1306 inc, BUT although the 3 yr warranty should cover the whole of the EU it appears that no-one in the UK is prepared to cover it!
I spent ages deciding where to get it from and when the subject of warranty came up I gave it the bigun & said “How often does a new machine break down”
Mine did and is of this moment winging it’s way back to Germany, although I am assured this is a very rare occurance for a Summa machine.
So Basically ” You pays your money, You takes your chance”
Although in finishing I must say that the response from the Sales Dept. at Selectstore and Summa (Belgium) has been Excelant I am still without a machine for 2/3 weeks.
Good luck in your purchase.
PS I found it a very decent machine ( When it worked ) -
I bought my D60 from Edward Mathias a couple of months ago… his price was the cheapest I could find by about £50. He also includes 5 extra blades. The cost delivered was £1,586 inc VAT.
I’m perfectly happy with the machine and I use the Mathias blade instead of the Summa one supplied in the box.
He also lets you have the machine on a trial basis… you still pays your money, but if you’re not happy after 7 days he’ll arrange for it to be collected and will provide a full refund.
BEWARE… if you talk to Harry… you need at least 1 hour as he is very thorough! :lol1: He did not just sell me a D60 because I wanted one, he first talked me through all the various machines available.
Edward Mathias… 0151 728 7221
And no, I don’t work for him! 😮
