  • Where do I start with digital printing.

    Hi guys

I’m looking for a little general advice. I have been in the sign business for about seven years now and over the past couple of years have outsourced all our printing needs to other local companies.

I am now at the point where i am thinking of bringing digital printing in house. Banners, Vinyl prints, possible vehicle wrapping (attending a course seminar in a month or so).

I have begun to look around at large format printers and have found the whole thing quite daunting. Which machine form which manufacturer at which price with which RIP and which media to use with it is all a bit of a blur to me.

I have a computing background so understand technical issues and have dealt with small scale digital printing i.e business cards, leaflets and the like for a while but can’t seem to make much headway with which way to turn now.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A good start would be to read the boards. It’s all really down to personal preference in the end.

Firstly you probably want to decide on width and obviously your budget and then go from there.

    Good luck.

another starting point is what are the local people using and do you like the quality or are you looking for something different.

The vehicle wrapping course is based in surrey, don’t have the details to hand but will post later.

The Grapityp course was recommended to me too but was a bit pricey. For the same spec course I am paying only £390.00 for 2 days.
